Rep. Paul Brodeur, D-Melrose, recognized the Melrose High School Wrestling Team on June 7 at the Massachusetts Statehouse.
During a formal legislative session, Brodeur brought the team, coaches and athletic director to the floor of the House of Representatives. The team was introduced as the 2017 Wrestling State Champions and received a standing ovation from members of the House.
“It was an honor to recognize and congratulate this special group of young men and their outstanding coaches and athletic supporters,” Brodeur said. “Melrose is very proud of them, and it is my hope that this is the first of many celebratory visits to the Statehouse.”
In February, Melrose High School’s wrestling team won their first-ever State Championship. Led by Coach James Bleiler, they finished their historic season with an unprecedented 20-1-1 record.
